PIONEERS IN SENIOR LIVING...
FOOTHILL RETIREMENT is
steeped in rich history and urban myth. Prior to 1960, the Tujunga area, nestled between the San Gabriel Mountains and the Verdugo Hills was famed for its healthy climate and its relief to asthmatics and TB patients. Foothill Retirement, previously the Tujunga Hotel, and located on “Horse Thief Trail”, was just one of the numerous sanitariums that sprung up in the area with the objective of treating
patients with chronic diseases. Today, we continue the
tradition, while providing a wide range of services and care
with well trained staff to serve our residents.
WE ARE LOCATED in a quite residential neighborhood
with tree-lined streets, northwest of Los Angeles. Foothill
Retirement is committed to providing excellent care for
senior citizens of our community.
INDEPENDENT LIVING
Our cottages provide a sense of freedom and independence, and are surrounded by private gardens and walking paths. Whenever and however possible, we will tailor services and care to each resident. Restaurant quality meals are provided daily
in our dining room as
well as healthy snacks
throughout the day.

ASSISTED LIVING
Our assisted living community serves the resident based
on his or her unique needs. We offer private and semiprivate
suites that have been newly decorated. At Foothill
Retirement, we practice Resident Centered Care ~ we strive
to respect and preserve the independence of each resident,
while being sensitive to when intervention and assistance
is warranted. We offer a rich array of activities and social
programs to choose from so that each day has wonderful memorable experiences.
SISTER ELSIE'S MEMORY CARE UNIT
Our secure unit provides specialized quality care to
residents who face Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementias. Our memory care unit provides gentle daily structure and is designed to maintain the resident’s abilities and give each resident a sense of security. By honoring past interests and involvements, we integrate programs that will maximize remaining skills and support successful experiences. We continually embrace the latest ideas in good Alzheimer’s care practice, and are passionate
about providing assistance and support to the families and caregivers in the community.
SENIOR TRANSITIONS HOMEWARD
BOUND PROGRAM
Our unique and newly established wellness approach for residents transitioning from Acute Care/Nursing Home settings to home. Oftentimes, patients, caregivers and families need just a little more time before going home. We partner with community resource’s and your primary physician to get you back home. We listen and base care on your loved one’s needs. Short term stays are welcomed.
AMENITIES
WE PROVIDE ASSISTANCE with dressing, bathing,
grooming, walking and other daily activities. We also make every effort to grant our residents the choices that help to maximize their independence and dignity.
We are in constant touch with each resident’s primary
physical. Moreover, through home health services and upon a doctors orders, we provide physical occupational and speech therapies, as well as dental, vision, audiologist and podiatry care. We also provide transportation to a resident’s physician’s office. Housekeeping and linen services are
furnished weekly.
We provide amenities such as meals in a dining room setting,
weekly housekeeping, linen services, a 24 hour emergency
call system, medication administration, clinical monitoring by
a licensed nurse, recreational activity programs, scheduled
transportation and beauty shop services.
We offer our residents the opportunity to enjoy the life in their
years to the fullest. We provide a gracious, cozy setting that
is designed to make life easy and comfortable, free from
everyday chores that often become burdensome as one
grows older. Moreover, we are committed to make sure that
every resident enjoys as active a lifestyle as possible.
